There has been such a plethora of cards made for SAB that I just got bored with making them and wanted to think outside the box, so why not a box, why not four boxes to spell HOME – great way to use Good Neighbors on them! Of course brainwaves happen at the most inconvenient time – just when it’s bedtime and DH wasn’t allowed to get to sleep till he’d worked out how I could get the blocks to read HOME front and back. There he was with Post-It notes littering the bed, representing my blocks and mapped out where I ought to place my letters but when it came to execution – HOME took me half a day to complete so I couldn’t feasibly do the other 3 sides with the same design as I needed it for Thursday! Over to Plan B – I chose 3 other words – LIFE, LOVE and NOEL which worked perfectly, sped things up a bit with the added bonus of adding rigidity to the boxes making them much sturdier. Here are some close ups of HOME – I made the boxes from a die cut in Whisper White. I cut my own letters out of chipboard as well as out of DSPs, adhered them to chipboard letters, filed, inked edges with Kraft White first followed by coordinating inks. Below are the close-ups so you can see how much work it entailed.
I used Basic Black and Jackpot Designer Papers for the LOVE side and punched some hearts with the Heart to Heart punch, faux stitched round them with a white gel pen.
For the LIFE side I used Tempting Turquoise, Bashful Blue DSP and stamped images with Whimsical Wings, a Hostess Level 2 set. I also used the birds from Love You Much and Best Wishes and More using a variety of markers.
Lastly, for the NOEL, I used Real Red and Christmas Jingle.
Here is a close up of the “L”.
I really enjoyed making this. I wonder what else I can make using blocks.
Really Stunning Elaine – Well done you! Thank you for a lovely evening last night – I had a great time x
