Inspirin’ Inkin’ July Quarterly Glass challenge

My Stampin’ Up! Mummy, Amanda, set us a challenge to transform a glass into a Hostess gift at our last Quarterly back in May and it was judged today. First, let me say how fantastic all the other entries were too, some did glass painting, rub-ons and wraps for their glasses and popsicle sticks with cardstock, punch art, and then we all voted on which one we liked best. Of course, it goes without saying that we weren’t allowed to vote for our own. This is my entry – “Stamper’s Survival Kit” which won! I was so surprised and chuffed. Thank you all the ladies who voted for mine. How did I make it? I traced the base of the glass on Old Olive cardstock and cut out a circle larger than the traced base, cut angled slots up to the drawn line, fitted it around the glass and adhered the overlapping pieces to form a “coaster”. I cut two strips of Old Olive long enough to wrap round lower half of glass and punched an eyelet border on one edge. I then adhered Sweet Pea Stitched Felt flowers at different heights on one strip, then married the remaining piece of Old Olive (don’t like untidy bits showing through the glass) and adhered on top before attaching it to the glass as pictured above. In the gaps in between, I applied some rub ons and used the wide Old Olive striped grosgrain ribbon to keep it firmly in place. The contents were for a “Stamper’s Survival Kit” which would be great for any crafter, not just my Hostesses. Now I have to say, that this type of Hostess gift are for a very special Hostess who has hosted workshops with me before as the contents in the Survival Kit contain product which are considerably more valuable in monetary terms than ones I normally give.
