Plane and Simple – Diorama

We asked, Stampin’ Up! listened and finally we have some masculine stamps to make blokey type cards with! Thank you Stampin’ Up! This is just one of the amazing new range in the Mini this year which launches today! Not only that, did you notice the Diorama card has a “Top Note” aperture? This is the best Mini EVER! The Big Shot is here, and a whole bunch of Bigz, Bigz L, sizzlets, Medium sizzlets, embosslits, and embossing folders to choose from! Not least of which is Stampin’ Up!’s exclusive Top Note die! I just thought that most people would pick the more feminine sets to show case, so I chose this one first to post. In the last week I’ve been busy making loads of samples for my pre-launch mini event so over the next few weeks I’ll be sharing it with you, but for now here’s my first offering! This concoction is a Diorama card. I cut 2 pieces of 4 1/4″ x 7″ Night of Navy card stock and scored 1″ on either side with long side on top; 1 piece measuring 1″ x 6″ scored at 1/2″ on each side (this is the centre panel) for adhering the DSP from the Brights paper stack for the hills, 1 piece of 5″ x 4 1/4″ Glossy card stock brayered with Bashful Blue and Marina Mist and handcut clouds from the sticky part of the post-it notes to mask with on the Glossy card stock before brayering. I just drew free hand the hills then cut. There was nowhere to write a message so it hit me like a bolt of lightning! Why not fold a piece of card and insert it in the curly label punch to make a mini card! Genius! So I did! The image of the head with wings (is it an RAF emblem or something? an angel?) from Clearly for You was just perfect for the front, and I used a sentiment from Tiny Tags. Another light bulb moment – how to keep that mini card from popping open! The Compass – strategically placed and popped up with a dimensional – so the card tucks in behind it and stays shut! I’m really pleased with how this turned out – hope you like it too. It wasn’t until I finished the card that I realised how many stamp sets I’d used! Here’s the recipe list. Stamps: Plane and Simple, Artistic Etchings, Tiny Tags, Clearly for You, Trendy Trees Ink: Old Olive, Night of Navy, Versamark Paper: Newsprint Designer Series Paper, Whisper White, Glossy card stock, Night of Navy Accessories: Top Note Bigz die, Curly Label extra large punch, 1/16″ hand held hole punch, Silver elastic cord, sponge daubers, silver embossing powder, embossing buddy, heat tool, Real Red 1/8″ taffeta ribbon
