Manhattan Flower

I was inspired by a picture I saw in the American catty for the Simply Sent Sweet Moments kits and thought it would be quite within my grasp to replicate it.  I used the scallop border, the itty bitty punch and the hand held 1/8″ punch to create the border in Rose Red – I punched the 4 petal flower on the sticky part of the post-it notes then postioned them on alternate scallops, turned the punch upside down and punched.  I centred and punched the 1/8″ hole and drew a line to guide me in punching out the rest.

Next I butted a piece of embossed polka dots Pink Pirouette cardstock against it, then cut Elegant Eggplant DSP to adhere to the left of the Rose Red punched border.  Unfortunately the Stampin’ Up! logo was visible, in the bottom right corner of the DSP, so I had to cover it up with the Celebrate sentiment which looked a bit odd on its own.  Consequently the flowers were added. Then I embossed a Manhattan Flower in Pink Pirouette, but only used the larger of the two and used a two-way glue pen on the raised edges and sprinkled with Dazzling Diamonds having first inked the raised edges with Elegant Eggplant to make it pop.

Here’s the inside.  This stamp set from my personal collection coordinates with the Manhattan Flower and has been sitting in my cupboard gathering dust. As it’s a special occasion, I just had to use it for my baby girl.  I don’t think she’s averse to purples, as she chose lilac for her bridesmaids’ dresses many moons ago.

I’m out of my comfort zone with these colours and zhuzhing (word?)  and it isn’t really my usual style.  What do you think?  Too fussy?  Back to the drawing board maybe?
