We were so delighted to hear our SIL passed his exams, and even more thrilled and excited that they are coming down to stay with us for a week (especially my daughter with their two adorable boys – they arrive today) so that means I can give him his card personally. I received this stamp set as a birthday gift last year and haven’t touched it all this time and now I can’t seem to stop using it! Any old excuse, and out it comes!
For the scallop trim border on the spinner image, I punched a strip of River Rock with the scallop edge punch, snipped partially in between each scallop so that I could bend and guide it round the circle and adhere with Tombow. My card base was 11 3/4″ x 4″, folded in half. I used a semi-circle punch to created the above detail, folded it back, tucked a strip of River Rock behind it before adhering it on the reverse side and it gives the effect pictured above.
This is the inside, where it has been folded back on the left, you can just about glimpse how the semi circles protrude out. A narrow strip of River Rock was butted up to the edge of the folded back piece where the other piece of River Rock is concealed.
When the card is closed this is what it looks like lain flat. The “Congratulations” is from the level 3 Hostess set, the rest is from my personal collection.
I hope he likes it. Well, must crack on – house to clean, beds to make and grocery shopping before they descend on us en mass! It’s going to be a lively week!
