Party This Way, Razzle Dazzle, Every Little Bit, Curvy Verses

Shock, horror – two posts again so soon after the other day?  August is such a busy month for birthdays and anniversaries, I haven’t shared every single one, just a couple of my favourites.  Well I made a birthday card for my daughter (see post following on from this), and I was experimenting in a style which was out of my comfort zone and wasn’t entirely happy with it.  As I still had time to make another, this is what I came up with instead.  A real labour of love, I would not recommend it for the faint hearted.

First I ran the front of the card through the Big Shot with the polka dot embossing folder.

Next, I took some bamboo skewers and patiently split them in half  (if you’d like to make one like this,  proceed with caution lest you cut yourself!). The reason I did this was because I wanted   a flat edge with which to adhere the skewer to the card base with crystal effects.  I stamped pennants in Baja Breeze and Marina Mist and cut them out,  coordinating triangles were cut from the  DSP stacks which I sponged before adhering to the pennants.  Using scraps of Baja Breeze I cut out “buntings” , stamped the word “happy birthday” on Whisper White and punched them out with a 1/2″ circle punch, raised it on dimensionals and adhered to the buntings which were also popped up on dimensionals and arranged as pictured above.

I used DSP scraps in Cherry Cobbler, More Mustard and Baja Breeze to cut out the butterflies from the Beautiful Butterflies embosslits and attached to pennants with glue dots and added a faux pearl for a bit of pizzazz.

I added Whisper White  card stock which had a scalloped trim edge border punched along one edge mirroring each other, edges inked before adhering to inside panels of card base.  On the left hand panel, I stamped the Razzle Dazzle motif in Baja Breeze and also along the top right corner on the right hand panel.  I spritzed Baja Breeze and shimmer paint on the left hand panel too, but left the right panel untreated.

In the bottom right corner of the right hand panel, I stamped some girly images from the Every Little Bit set and added a sentiment from Curvy Verses.  I’m much happier with this version, and will be sending this one off to my darling girl.

Have a look at the one I made earlier below this post and let me know which you prefer.
