I feel like a hamster in one of those exercise wheels, pedalling fast but not going very far! This is the first opportunity I’ve had to do any blogging this week – just in time for my Sunday share.
Here are the close-ups of the cards from my Create a Cupcake Class yesterday.
There are so many uses for the cupcake builder punch – not just for doing the cupcakes. I used the cupcake base for the Hot Air Balloon basket, and the topping as the clouds.
In this one, it became a Popcorn bucket at the cinema. The itty bitty flower punch used for the pop-corn and sponged in River Rock. The matt for the greeting is meant to resemble a ticker tape ticket – I originally made two, folded in half and used Stampin’ Up!’s cutter kit to make some perforations, but it swamped the card, so reduced it to one as seen above. The sentiments are from Teeny Tiny Wishes.
This is a great way to use up scraps of Designer Series Papers (DSP for short) and we used the masking technique for this one.
I expanded on making an awning on a previous card (in my early days as a Demonstrator) which you can see here. This time I used the word window punch as an awning for an ice-cream parlour. The cones were stamped from the Pennant Parade stamp set. I just love the striped embossing folder for the counter top! I punched a scallop border, scored one end before running it through the Big Shot and folded the scalloped edge over to represent the counter.
The background was stamped using one of the Confetti stamp set images. I punched a 1/2″ circle first, then centred the 3/4″ circle punch over it and punched a second time to create the handbag handles. The modern label punch was used for the handbag closure and we used the mini brads – just perfect for the mini purses! The cardstock used is Island Indigo, Pool Party, Calypso Coral and Whisper White.
Finally we made a triangular box (1/8 of a wheel) which has the option to be made into a whole cake if you have the time to replicate it 8 times! You would need to construct an octagonal paper tray to put it on though, but I hadn’t got the time. As it was, the class ran over time anyway! We used the scallop trim border punch and the Blossom Party Originals die for the flowers from the Spring Mini.
There’s only a week left before the mini finishes on 30 April, if you have anything on your wish list DO contact me asap before these items disappear altogether. I have no way of knowing whether or not any of the items will transfer to the main catalogue for 2012-2013.
