TRIPLE STAMPING TECHNIQUE

Triple stamping technique – The saying goes “better late than never”, but three months late?   I’m ashamed to admit that life just got in the way and I’d been meaning to make a card for my Stampin’ Up! great grand-daughter on the safe arrival of her adorable baby girl but just hadn’t got round to it till recently.  She hosted a charity event  at the end of June and I lent her some card samples for the summer mini, so it was a golden opportunity to redress my tardiness and put a card in there for her too.

Additional items

I’ve used several stamp sets for this card.

  • Creative Elements – with Crumb Cake ink
  • Baby Prints – Summer Mini catalogue
  • Bundle of Love – main catalogue
  • Petite Pairs

The first two layers are adhered together. Before attaching it to the card base, I wound some Bakers twine, threaded through a clear heart shape itty bitty button. I tied it with a bow to secure it, then adhered it to the card base with dimensionals.

Technique club

I taught my group of tech club ladies the triple layer stamping technique last month and have delayed posting this until I’d introduced it to my card club ladies too.   It is the same technique I used for the baby card. Here’s the card the ladies made using the Creative Elements stamp set.    Basically, 3 neutral (in this sample, Very Vanilla) layers of cardstock were cut and corresponding mats in coloured cardstock were also cut slightly larger leaving a 1/8″ border all round.  First, you layer all three layers of neutral cardstock on top of each other using temporary adhesive to prevent layers from moving while you stamp.   Once you’ve secured your layers, you can stamp the images.   The magic happens when you separate the layers and then mat them on to the corresponding sizes of coloured cardstock mats and reassemble the card.   It’s difficult to describe, so it’s best to look at the picture above to visualise it.
