Blue Ribbon & Good Sport

My friend’s son is just mad about football and it’s always a challenge to do masculine cards without it looking too girlie!

I’ve had the Blue Ribbon stamp set for awhile and this fun fold lends itself to the Rosette image being shown off peeping through the cut out circle.  There’s also a little trick – to punching the rosette out without losing the tails.  By cutting the tails up to the next full scallop (that’s 1 1/2 scallops on both sides), you can insert the rosette into the appropriate circle scallop punch and punch out the rosette.  The more common way is to stamp the rosette first, then stamp it again on a piece of scrap and punching out the whole scallop then raising it on dimensionals.  It’s certainly quicker, but if you want to pop it, then you’re adding another layer of depth and the card will end up being more expensive to post.  This way, you’ve only got one layer of dimensional for the closure and the Certainly Celery “Happy Birthday”.

Of course one had to decorate the inside too, so I used the Good Sport set to stamp some footballs, then stamped an extra one in scrap Whisper White which I punched out and raised on dimensionals and adhered on the left side so that it would act as a closure.
