For my Sunday Share, here’s what I made my hubby for Valentine’s Day. I wasn’t able to post it before.
I used the Hearts Framelits to cut two scalloped edge hearts in Basic Black cardstock. On the face of it, it looks like a card. The largest heart with the straight cut edge was used to cut the Red and White polka dot DSP from Polka Dot Parade. The second largest straight cut edge heart was used for the Whisper White layer.
Open it up, and it reveals a box.
Within that box, are four more boxes.
Slide open the matchboxes and it reveals chocolates. Untie the gold elasticated cord around the Whisper White heart to open the card and it reveals “Happy Valentines Day” from Teeny Tiny Sentiments”. The gold elasticated cord is part of the accessories from the Gold Card Kit giveaway, one of the choices of freebies during the 2014 Sale-a-bration period with each £45 spend. I took these photos before I wrote my message in it.
You’re probably wondering how I made the boxes! I measured the actual chocolates and cut four pieces of Real Red cardstock 2-1/4″ square and scored it at 1/2″ on all four sides, snipped on score lines parallel to each other top and bottom to create the tabs with which to create the box base. Then I cut strips of Real Red Polka Dot DSP 1-1/4″ X 5″ and wrapped these round the boxes adhering the overlapping bottom layers to make a matchbox type cover.
For the heart shaped card, I just folded a strip of Whisper White card stock in three, placed the Heart die over it, taking care that the cardstock at the widest edge of the Heart die was not touching, then ran it through the Big Shot. This gives you the hinge on both sides of your heart shaped card. It’s easy to find the centre point on a heart shape. You just line up the dip in the heart to its point at the bottom and trim off the excess afterwards. This gives you the perfect gatefold heart shape closure. I then closed the card, ran an embossing buddy over the entire surface and used the Perfect Pennants “you & me” stamped in Versamark then gold embossed with a heat tool. Easy peasy!
Each little match box had a different “Lovely Little Label” from the stamp set with the same name and they have coordinating punches called Little Labels Punch pack, a set of three punches. The boxes held two chocolates each. I always share whatever I’m eating, and when I was making these, I made them so that the boxes would hold two chocolates in, in the hope that he would share too!
I randomly punched hearts with the leftover DSP to fill up the blank spaces on the lid and base. Too late for this year, but I hope it’s inspired you to make one for next year, or for an anniversary which can happen any time of the year!
