Now it’s December I feel more comfortable posting all things Christmas. For most crafters, Christmas happens WAY before that and I always feel apologetic whenever I post anything related to this festive time of year. How many of you have husbands who inwardly groan when they hear that word! My hubby rolls his eyes in mock despair when shops start displaying Christmas goodies in October!!!
Christmas and Santa are synonymous and the coordinating die set called Detailed Santa thinlits is stunning and has spawned another creation which I will share in another post.
In November, we had a special promotion called Stitched from the Heart with a selection of stamps at 25% discount which would coordinate beautifully with the Stitched Shapes Framelits. The Stitched Shapes Framelits proved so popular that they ran out of stock!!! This is a set of round, oval and square nested dies which had an inner die cut impression to simulate stitching and they “frame” your stamped image beautifully. Now if you didn’t manage to get hold of a set, don’t worry. I have it on good authority that they will be available in the 2017-18 annual catalogue.
I made this card using the circles and love the result. Santa’s list was stamped and fussy cut and I tied a double strand of gold bakers twine to add dimension with a sprinkling of gold trim sequins.
The “Ho! Ho! Ho!” sentiment is a single stamp. In order to get the different colours on the same stamp, I used markers to ink up the words. For the fir trees I inked up in Garden Green and stamped it directly on to the Whisper White card stock, then for the other two trees, I stamped off once before stamping on to the card stock to create those lighter shades of green. All the images were stamped on Whisper White card stock, before being die cut. If you do it this way, you can centre the images more easily by moving your die to the correct position.
For the inside of the card, more simple stamping, and I used the stars to add a bit of interest.
