Painted Glass

I had to make a sympathy card recently, and the Graceful Glass 6″x 6″ (15.2 x 15.2 cm) Designer Vellum from the Painted Glass Suite fitted the bill.  Sympathy cards are the kind of cards which you don’t want to make, because it means that someone near and dear has passed on and it’s hard for those left behind.

Words seem inadequate at these times but if you can take the time to make a card to let them know you’re thinking of them and sharing in their sorrow too, hopefully that will bring some comfort in their hour of need.

I used a mixture of markers and Stampin’ Blends to colour on the back of the vellum and adhered it to some Whisper White card stock.  I was lucky that I had the “Tea Room” combo ribbon pack which picked out some of the blue in the stained glass “window” as I didn’t have any Gorgeous Grape or Highland Heather ribbon in hand.

Unfortunately in my pack, the pattern on one side had been cut short – but I worked around it and made use of it rather than discarding it in the trash can.  The ribbon masked the flaw in the paper and you’d be none the wiser (winks).

The sentiment for the inside of the card is from Flourishing Phrases.

Wherever you are, whoever you’re with, just hold them closer and a little tighter – we are all mortal and our time together is finite.

Big hugs to you all and thanks for stopping by.
