I had some sad news almost a fortnight to the day before Christmas Day that my Great Uncle had passed away in Australia. He was my Nan’s favourite brother and the last surviving brother from her generation.
Sympathy cards are not the ones you want to make, but it’s a fact of life and at some point or other, a necessity as we lose someone we love.
When I first saw this Sale-a-bration set called Lasting Lily it just wasn’t one I hankered for as it is a Level 2 set but having qualified for it, I elected to choose it as my free set and I’m so glad I did. Making this card to send to my cousins was cathartic in a way. Being thousands of miles away, I could not attend the funeral which was scheduled for 20 December. The lily stamp is one of Stampin’ Up!’s “dist-ink-tive” stamps with light and shade built into the structure of the stamp and it is stunning. It’s not until you have a play that you realize how easy it is to create a card that looks absolutely fabulous with just simply putting ink on paper through simple stamping.
The colours I chose were Soft Sea Foam for the stems, and the lily was in Gorgeous Grape. I added some organza ribbon on the back (also one of the free Sale-a-bration items with a qualifying order) and adhered the sentiment which was white embossed and die cut with the Stitched Shapes Framelits.
Here are the supplies I used for this card – please note that the stamp set is a Level 2 Sale-a-bration set and is free subject to a qualifying order placed excluding shipping/handling. The Organdy combo ribbon pack is also a Sale-a-bration item, free with a qualifying Level 1 order.
