Hello there!
At the time of writing, summer is in full swing, but who knows what it will be like when this is scheduled to publish today? All I know is that when it’s holiday/vacation time, we want time to tarry a while, not fly past like there’s no tomorrow!
Speaking of flight – this Butterfly Wishes stamp set is a Dist-INK-tive one and that single branch with the photo realistic texture floats my boat!
I chose a monochrome effect – using texture for the background layer by embossing it with the Subtles 3D embossing folder. It was also embossed again using the largest of the Stitched Nested Label dies with the embossing mats. Did you know you can use any of your dies for embossing with? You need special embossing mats which were available for purchase in last year’s catalogue. So long as you use this sandwich formula starting with the basic platform, followed by the die (cutting edge face up), followed by the card stock on top, then the thin blue silicone mat, and lastly the White Impressions plate, then the die will NOT cut through the card stock, but emboss it instead. Next, I die cut a piece of Sahara Sand card stock using next size down from the Stitched Nested Labels dies and placed it on top securing it with washi tape and with the Stamparatus, I was able to stamp over both layers repeatedly until I was happy with the depth of colour. The Subtles embossed layer was torn and all the edges sponged before adhering it to the card base. I cut a little slot on the fold so I could thread through the scalloped ribbon and tied a flat knot bow. The reverse side of the butterfly was also stamped using the Mirror Stamping Technique with the help of a silicone mat and the Stamparatus. Watch out for a video tutorial to demonstrate how very soon.
I used the picture in the catalogue for my inspiration, but the way this card has ended couldn’t be more different from the original!!! lol!
Please note that the old style Dynamic Impressions embossing folder works with the basic platform and one clear plate. It does not require the new 3D Embossing plate which is blue in colour.
Happy Sunday!
