Happy Sunday!
Valentine’s Day is just round the corner, and one of the cards I designed for our Team Meeting last month naturally had to include a Valentine project! I used two stamp sets – Parisian Beauty and the Heartfelt bundle.
Reverse masking technique
From a piece of copy paper, I created a mask by inserting it into the trimmer, I made a straight random cut on one side and tore the other three sides to make an aperture. I chose to sponged colour in Flirty Flamingo where the aperture exposed the card front underneath.
Second/third generation stamping
The stamp with the phrase is small, and you need to stamp it three times to cover the aperture without removing the mask. To simulate the vintage look, only ink once in Gray Granite and continue stamping without re-inking stamp. I then removed the mask before stamping the postmarks.
Stamping multiple times
I punched out a Flirty Flamingo heart from the DSP. The DSP has a glossy texture and when stamping, it can easily smudge. Also, the ink is less absorbent on a glossy surface, to ensure a good ink coverage, you need to stamp multiple times. This is where the amazing Stamparatus is invaluable. The Stamparatus is Stampin’ Up!’s patented stamp positioning tool. I created a template by punching a heart from Whisper White card stock. The aperture is the same size as the Flirty Flamingo DSP one. Insert this into the aperture on the Stamparatus, mount the stamp and you can stamp it multiple times.
Die cut elements
The die cut scroll was cut in half and attached to the back of heart with glue dots.
The silver die cut Eiffel Tower was adhered next, before I adhered the Heart with dimensionals to the card front as shown. I stamped the Fleur de Lis at full strength, die cut and adhered it with dimensionals to one side with the other resting on top of the heart.
From the Flirty Flamingo 5-5/8″ x 3-7/8″ (14.3 cm x 9.8 cm) layer, I die cut the scroll from the middle and re-used the cardstock as a mat layer for the Whisper White layer which measures 5-1/2″ x 3-3/4″ (14 cm x 9.5 cm).
For the inside of the card, just some simple stamping in Gray Granite.
In the supply list below, there are links to the bundles, and the stamps and dies/punches have also been itemised separately so you can cherry pick what you wish.
Personally, I love the bundles as it saves money if you want both the stamp set and dies, or punches and during Sale-a-bration, you get to earn or choose something for free from the brochure!
