Alternative cards Paper Pumpkin

Hello there! How are you coping with the second “lockdown”? One way to keep those blues at bay was to get cracking with making my Christmas cards for 2020.

Enter the global “Joy to the World” Paper Pumpkin kit – this is a monthly subscription kit only available in USA. It includes a stamp set, an ink spot and even adhesives like glue dots and sticky foam pads called dimensionals and all the card blanks and envelopes, some pre-die cut labels, gold foil floral laser-cuts and wreath ones too. Occasionally, Stampin’ Up! releases a special edition for all its markets. The kit was to make eight cards but I went off piste and ended making 40.

I did a variety of styles, from simple stamping, some with an embossing technique and others using different dies. Having learnt my lesson from last year, I deliberately kept the layers to a minimum and more importantly, omitted using embellishment. The only embellishment I used was the Cherry Cobbler thread provided in the kit. To keep the weight of each card down, I also used the mini dimensionals instead of the full size ones.

Typically, I just went with the creative flow and didn’t realise how different they all were. I was getting a bit weary at the end, and duplicated a couple of the designs to save time just to finish. My target was 40, so by cutting up the card bases and envelopes it stretched the materials.

I hope this will inspire you to make your own and make that box of goodies stretch like it did for me!
