This month is a Card from a Sketch for Tech 4 Stampers Blog Hop. This is our second blog hop and it’s based on a sketch which the lovely Sara Sayers designed. Thank you, Sara.
The Tech 4 Stampers is a monthly subscription group run by Louise Sims. She mentors and enables members to understand IT jargon and equip them with a fountain of Technical knowledge to build or manage their own websites. It takes the mystery out of “tech” and I’ve certainly grown in confidence thanks to her expertise, patience and guidance. Not only that, I’ve met and made new friends with my fellow “Techs” and love the camaraderie within the group.
Do you struggle with masculine cards? So often we’re inundated by pretty floral images which err on the side of feminine so I was delighted to find the “Soar Confidently” stamp set on page 70 in the January to June 2021 mini! Not only is there a “Happy Father’s Day sentiment, but the other sentiments can be used for different occasions too. I thought this set would be ideal to use for creating a card from a sketch.
Here’s my interpretation from the sketch. The card base is in Misty Moonlight, complimented by a mat layer in Seaside Spray which will be retiring soon. Seaside Spray is a 2019-2021 In Colour and one of my favourites so I shall be sad to see it go.
Some retiring products:
I am making the most of the Stitched Shapes dies while I still can. Also the 2″ circle punch which was just the right size to use as a mat layer in Misty Moonlight. The Misty Moonlight strip needed some texture, so I used the Absolutely Argyle 3D embossing folder to do this, and sadly, this is retiring too. If you like this stamp set, FYI, it will be retiring at the end of June too.
Great news – the patterned paper I used “In Good Taste” will still be available, hurrah!
Do you want to take a peek inside? The original greeting in its entirety read “Happy Birthday You Sweet Thing” which sounded a bit twee for a bloke so I fussy cut this stamped sentiment from the “Sweet Strawberry” stamp set and omitted “you sweet thing”.
To decorate the inside, I simply stamped the third remaining image from “Soar Confidently” – the air ship. My nephew has a birthday coming up, so this card will be winging its way to him shortly.
I hope you like my card – working from sketches is yet another new experience for me and I hope I’ve done it justice! If you’d like to see our first Tech 4 Stampers blog hop post, you can view it HERE. I wasn’t quite au fait with blog hop protocol on my first hop, but have rectified it for this one and for future ones going forward.
