A simple solution to make quick, easy cards is to use patterned papers. There is currently a 15% discount on a selection of Designer Series Papers. I was once guilty of hoarding any patterned papers which came into my possession. It was traumatic to put scissors to paper and cut up those beautiful patterns.
Usually there are two sheets of each in a 12″ x 12″ pack, with six double sided designs. To fuel my angst even further, I couldn’t decide which side I wanted to use. Over the years, this paranoia about my papers meant I’d built up a huge store of unused papers, no longer in trend. The papers ended up in the bin or off to a charity shop – money wasted!
So these days, I have a much more laissez-faire attitude. Chop it, use it. If you run out, buy more! That’s where that 15% discount on Designer Series Paper is a god send from 1 July to 2 August.
Last Friday’s post featured the “Bloom Where you’re Planted Suite” HERE I fussy cut some of the plants from one of the sheets for the “To a dear friend” card. The front was embossed with the Macrame 3D embossing folder.
The “you were there and I am grateful” card is in Gray Granite. To make the paper go further, I cut them into strips and adhered them to card stock as a feature. This type of design is also great for using up left over scraps of paper.
I was more generous with the paper for the cards in the back row. A card front size piece of patterned paper is the key to quick, easy cards. It’s also a huge time saver. Let the paper “talk”. The pattern in the paper often dictates which way your design will go. I simply added the “Thank you” at the bottom, as the hanging foliage was the main feature.
