Cutest Christmas Shaker card – Sweets & Treats

A really cute Christmas shaker card with the Sweets & Treats stamp set in Week 6 of 12 of my Christmas Countdown Series. Half way through! How time flies when you’re having fun!

As soon as I saw the Sweets & Treats stamp set I have been itching to create a shaker card with that Christmas pudding stamp. I also wanted to combine it with the gorgeous Whimsy & Wonder 12″ x 12″ (30.5 x 30.5 cm) Specialty Designer Series papers.

The other stamp set which uses the same dome is in the Classic Cloche Bundle which I featured HERE in an earlier post. I didn’t use the cloche domes then because the purpose of that post was to demonstrate how to make super quick, easy flat cards from a pre-scored notecards and envelops pack to reduce the cost of postage. The Cloche dies from that bundle, also fit the one for the Sweets & Treats cloche image.

How to attach the Shaker Dome

If you’ve made shaker cards before, you’ll know how fiddly it can be to align the dome over the shaker card bits whether they’re beads, sequins, or other shaker embellishments. My solution is to actually cut two identical card bases. With the fold of the card as a hinge, it’s easy to line up and adhere the top piece to the bottom without having to eyeball it. Afterwards, you can trim off the excess, your shaker elements are safely enclosed and you can then adhere it to your other card base.

Front of card

Once I’d adhered the shaker section to the front of the card, I stamped the cake stand and sentiment on Mint Macaron card stock in Mossy Meadow Ink. Both these were fussy cut. I adhered the cake stand butted up hard to the base of the cloche dome and added a strip of Whimsy & Wonder DSP underneath to “ground” it, then attached the sentiment on top.

Inside card

I stamped another pudding on a scrap of Basic White, coloured in the holly and berries with Mint Macaron and Polished Pink Stampin’ Blends and fussy cut them to adhere to the inside. The sentiment is from Christmas to Remember.

The dome makes the card bulky, so it’s definitely one for delivering in person!
