A square card using the Island Vibes stamp set from Sale-a-bration next year. It’s New Year’s Eve day. Let’s hope 2022 will be a better one!
Today’s card is 4″ x 4″ when closed. In metric this will be 10 x 10 cm. See how many new things you can spot in my card! Clues are in the photo! Easy peasy!
Inking different colours on one stamp
Sometimes an image requires more than one colour. To do this, the common practice is to ink up different parts of the image with the brush end of a Stampin’ Write Marker pen. My preferred method of inking up my stamps is to use an ink pad rather then a marker pen. That’s why the Stamparatus is my “go to” tool. I can stamp the image multiple times in the same spot without “smudging”.
To get the dual tone effect on the pineapple, I inked up the crown in Soft Succulent, wiped away any ink on the pineapple fruit part. For extra definition, take the Soft Succulent Stampin’ Write marker to ink up the outline of the pineapple and then stamp.
Then do the reverse for the lower half of pineapple – ink it in So Saffron, clean stamp on leafy crown leaving only the bottom fruit part inked in So Saffron and stamp.
DistINKtive stamp
The images on this stamp set comes from Stampin’ Up!’s Distinktive range. The stamps are designed and manufactured in red rubber so that it gives a photographic 3D type image in the one stamp without having to use different stamps to create the same depth as required in 2 or 3 step stamping with the clear photopolymer stamps.
Inside card
What I love about the banana leaf stamp is that it fits perfectly for the card insert in a 4″x 4″ (10 x 10 cm) square card.
Here’s a quick video tutorial on how I made this card.
