I have a fun corner opening box with pointsettia for today’s project! Happy Christmas Eve day! Something easy as a last minute prep. A gift box big enough to put bath bombs, lip balm or whatever you fancy inside as an extra tree gift.
This box has an unusual way to open. The corners wrap round the top of the box in two triangular halves. To construct it, the easiest way is to watch the video tutorial.
Box Base
The box base is made out of Cherry Cobbler card stock measure 8-1/4″ x 8-1/4″ (21 cm x 21 cm). From the aerial view you can see how the corners of the box opens.
Corner opening/lid
To construct the two corner openings, cut 2 pieces of Cherry Cobbler card stock 3-7/8″ x 7-3/4″ (9.8 cm x 19.7 cm). In this instance, the metric version is a direct conversion of the imperial measurement and has not been rounded off, otherwise the two halves will not fit properly. For further instructions on scoring and cutting, refer to the video tutorial.
Decorating the corner opening/lid
I cut 4 squares of a non-directional pattern paper (Tidings of Christmas) 2-5/8″ x 2-5/8″ (6.5 x 6.5 cm), then cut each square diagonally to create 8 triangles, i.e., two triangles out of each square.
Video Tutorial
I recommend you view tutorial to see how the box and box lids are constructed. A visual aid will illustrate it far better than me writing reams and reams!
