Ombre hinge stamping with Amazing Phrasing. The ombre effect is one of my favourite techniques. Ombre hinge stamping is even better! What is it, you might ask.
You mount your stamp on the clear plate of a Stamparatus, Stampin’ Up!’s patented stamp positioning tool. The stamps from Amazing Phrasing are photopolymer so they are clear. The large letters are sized so they are within the 1″ range between each hinge on the Stamparatus. Once you mount it on the plate, you simply move the plate by 1 hinge to reposition the stamp to stamp on the next line and so on until you run out of space on your card stock!
To achieve the ombre effect, you ink once, and continue stamping consecutively without re-inking the stamp. Consequently, each time you stamp, the ink will be lighter than the previously stamped one.
I was able to stamp two columns of the word “Oops!” on the front of my card so I thought I’d do the right side and start with the strongest colour from the top and fading out at the bottom. Then on the left side, I’d reverse it and start with the strongest colour at the bottom and fading out at the top.
Apart from butterflies in various sizes in the Brilliant Wings Die set, there are dies which cut out apertures and dies which leave an impression. I used these to decorate the inside of the card and simply added a sentiment.
