Pop-up easel drawer box

Today’s project is a pop-up easel drawer box for I made for Valentine’s Day. The papers I used are from Bee Mine 12″ x 12″ (30.5 x 30.5 cm) DSP. “Just for you” sentiment is from the So Sincere stamp set.

The box measures 3″x 3″ and 1″ in height. Thanks to Julie DiMatteo for the inspiration, and also to my lovely upline, Amanda, who shared this for one our team craft-along sessions a couple of years ago. A rectangular aperture needs to be cut on the wrap piece to house the pop-up easel card mechanism. There is a short cut to doing this by using the smallest stitched rectangle die in the larger nest of Stitched Rectangles Die set. In my sample today, I will show you how to cut the aperture with the aid of a paper trimmer.

The ribbon I used for the drawer pull has unfortunately retired. I had already photographed the project and didn’t want to go back to the drawing board! Feel free to substitute it with a different ribbon. I switched to the Silver & White ½” (1.3 cm) sheer ribbon in the video tutorial.

The photos below are self explanatory. On the left you can see the side view and easel is up as you pull on the drawer. When you pull the ribbon tab, the drawer opens to reveal the chocolates and also the easel card pops up so you can see the message.
