Easter treat box with the Excellent Eggs Bundle. You’ll find it in the January-April 2024 mini catalogue on page 27.
Excellent Eggs dies
There are three different sized dies for the eggs. In addition, there are dies which can cut zig-zags, curves or scallop edges to create different layers for the largest egg. Here’s a tip. Cut two of the largest egg out of Basic White card stock. Set one aside as a template on which to adhere the die cut pieces from the second egg. Lay the zig zag, scallop and curved dies across the 2nd Basic White egg and run it through the die cutting machine. This will yield 5 different layers. Once you’ve coloured the different pieces, you can adhere them to the Basic White egg you set aside.
How to make an egg shaped Easter Treat box
- Die cut 4 pieces of the largest egg in Soft Sea foam- 2 for the outer shell, and 2 for the inside of the lids once constructed in order to keep its shape.
- For the egg box sides you need 2 strips of Soft Sea Foam card stock measuring 10 ½”x 1 ⅜” (26.5 cm x 3.5 cm). Short side at the top, score at ⅜” (1 cm). Burnish score line.
- Attach Tear n’ Tape on ⅜” (1 cm) side and snip at an angle every ¼”.
- Use the innermost stitched line on the egg box base as a guide to adhere one of the strips.
- Adhere the second strip for the egg box lid along the pierced edge. The lid has to be a tad bigger in order to fit over the egg box base.
- Run a piece of Tear n’ Tape around side of egg box lid to attach ribbon.
- For finishing touches and box assembly please refer to video tutorial.
Short cut to colouring
The pieces are rather large for colouring. You can simply drop each piece into different ink pads to colour them instead of using the blending pens. Once the pieces are dry, adhere them according to their shape and size on the first die cut Basic White egg to make the pieces of the egg whole again.
Inside box
To strengthen box I trimmed the egg using the innermost stitching as a guideline and fit inside the box base. There is no need to trim the one for the upper lid. See instructions on the video.
