Men & Boys Tech 4 Stampers Blog Hop is the theme for April. Today’s card is really simple using a paper piecing technique. Here’s an example on the paper piecing technique but for today’s Men & Boys card theme I used a variation of the same technique.
Hubby caught Covid a second time, but I don’t know where from and consequently I caught it too. As I was feeling under the weather, I was caught short for the Tech 4 Stampers Blog Hop and had to think of something quick and simple to do.
So my card today is a simple one with just simple stamping. To make it more interesting, I used the paper piecing technique and you might have noticed, I’ve used one of the new 2024-2026 In Colors which will be available in the new Annual Catalogue.
The Tech 4 Stampers is a monthly subscription group run by Louise Sims. She mentors and enables members to understand IT jargon and equips them with a fountain of Technical knowledge to build or manage their own websites. It takes the mystery out of “tech” and I’ve certainly grown in confidence thanks to her expertise, patience and guidance. Not only that, I’ve met and made new friends with my fellow “Techs” and love the camaraderie within the group.
Paper Piecing technique
I chose to use a paper piecing technique. This is when you stamp the same image several times on different pieces of patterned paper and cut inside the lines of the images. Then you glue this to the corresponding stamped image on your project.
Inside card
Simply stamped inside to show off one of the new In Colors for 2024-2026 called Summer Splash. I thought it would resemble Coastal Cabana, but they’re quite different.
Cutting guide
- Card base : standard ½ an A4 sheet folded in half (Summer Splash – Available wef 1 May 2024)
- Mat layers card front and inside : 2 pieces Basic White 3 ¾” x 5 ½” (9.5 cm x 14 cm)
Card details
- Card front : Use a blending brush to apply a light coat of Pool Party colour for the background.
- Stamp Man & boy on bike image in Tuxedo Black memento ink.
- Glorious Gingham DSP – stamp same image and fussy cut man’s shirt inside black lines and glue to corresponding section on the card front.
- Bright & Beautiful 6 x 6 DSP – stamp the same image on DSP and fussy cut the jeans and boy’s shorts and adhere to corresponding section on card front.
- Use Stampin’ Blends to colour in the rest of the images. FYI I used Night of Navy for the man’s shoes, Petal Pink for the skin tones, Lemon Lolly for the hair on man and boy, Smoky Slate on the bike, and Summer Splash on the boy’s shirt and part of the bike.
- Simply stamp the inside with a different image and sentiment in Summer Splash.
