Spotlight technique with Spotlight on Nature. I’ve been using the Spotlight on Nature dies in previous posts so I thought it was time to feature the stamp set as well. In today’s post, I’m sharing a card made with the spotlight technique. I used the Stylish Shapes dies and a punch which unfortunately has retired. The stitched circle is 1 ¼” in diameter, and the next one up was too large. Lucky for me, I’d kept all my circle punches so I used the retired 1 ⅜” circle punch to punch out my Basic Black circle mat layer.
Spotlight Technique
The spotlight technique simply means stamping an image in black ink. Select an area in the image you wish to color. This is putting a spotlight on that little area leaving the remaining image in black and white. You can use a die cut circle on a scrap of card stock to use as a window template to select which area of the image you wish to add colour to spotlight. After you’ve made your selection, stamp the image again on a scrap of card stock. Colour this, die cut it with a circle die or punch and marry it up with the original stamped image to create your spotlight. Add another circle mat layer behind it to make it pop.
Inside card
I kept this clean and simple and partially stamped the tulip then coloured it in with the Stampin’ Blends in Petunia Pop and Shy Shamrock. Both of these are from the 2024-26 In Colour palette.
