Dry embossed card – Friends for Life

Dry embossed card – Friends for Life. A great way to make a card special is to use the dry embossing technique. You can achieve this with an embossing folder. There are so many to choose from and it’s a quick easy way to add that extra “kappow” element to a card.

The Friends for Life bundle is part of the Full of Life Suite Collection on pages 42-43 of the current 2024-25 Annual Catalogue. The pretty patterned paper from this suite is so vibrant and colourful. I used the papers for a Father’s Day card which you can see HERE. No doubt I’ll be revisiting this suite many more times so watch out for more creations in the future.

Painted Texture 3D embossing folder

Cut a Basic White layer 3 ⅝” x 5 ⅜” for embossing with. Next die cut the large heart and two paint brush stroke pieces from the Subtles 6″x 6″ (15.2 x 15.2 cm) DSP pack. Set aside the large die cut heart for later and adhere the two die cut paint brush stroke pieces to the Basic White layer before embossing it with the Painted Texture 3D embossing folder. To make your embossing sandwich you need Platform 1 followed by the embossing folder with the card stock inside, and the grey plate – platform 4 at the top then run it through the machine.

The heart was coloured with Pool Party Stampin’ Blends to make it look darker than the strips of die-cut brush stroke pieces. I also die cut the outline of a heart with the 2024-26 In Color Glimmer 12″x 12″ (30.5 x 30.5 cm) Specialty Paper in Summer Splash and adhered it as shown in picture.

On a scrap of Basic White, I stamped the sentiment and fussy cut those. This gave me an area behind which I could attach dimensionals to adhere it to the card base on top of the heart. I then flicked some ink splatters with a Pool Party Stampin’ Write Marker and also applied ink splatters with a clear Wink of Stella Glitter Brush.

As a finishing touch I added 2024-26 In Color™ Shimmer gems and a double bow using Iridescent ½” (1.3 cm) striped ribbon.

Inside card

Cut another Pool Party mat layer 3 ¾” x 5 ½” and a Basic White 3 ⅝” x 5 ⅜” layer to adhere on top leaving an even border all round.

Die cut another brush stroke piece in the same DSP. Trim off the top just a tad as it is too long and adhere as shown. Stamp the heart in Pool Party in the bottom right corner to complete the inside.
