Surprise pop-up inside card. If you love interactive cards, you’ll love this surprise pop-up inside the card. I used the Sweet Peas photopolymer stamp set from the 2024-25 Annual Catalogue on page 103. It has images of peas in a pea pod with all sorts of facial expressions and a pun on the word “pea” for example “You make me haPEA”, “Hello, GrumPEA” and “HaPEA birthday”.
Front of card
- Emboss the front layer with the Dashing Designs 3D embossing folder and adhere to card front.
- Adhere the strip of DSP on top of the embossed layer about a third of the way up.
- Stamp the pea, leaf sprigs on a piece of Basic White scrap and colour it in with Stampin’ Blends Shy Shamrock combo, Lemon Lime Twist combo and fussy cut them.
- Die cut the 5th Deckled circle in the Deckled Circle set, counting from 1 being the smallest and 14 being the largest.
- Arrange as pictured and attach with dimensionals.
Inside card
- Score and assemble pop-up mechanism (see video for measurements and visual aid)
- Apply adhesive to the small rectangle where the crossed score lines side are. Turn it over so that it is face down. With arrow head pointing to the right and centred on inside of card with the left tab just shy of card centre-fold score line, adhere the arrow head section to the inside of the card base. Wait for it to bond.
- Apply adhesive to the rectangle flap on the left and close front of card over it and allow it to bond.
Cutting guide
Please note that the metric measurements are a direct conversion rather than rounded off so it’s best to do the cutting and scoring on a Stampin’ Up! trimmer or equivalent.

Pop-up mechanism quadrant window sheet pieces
- Place a glue dot on the triangular quadrants on the right side, top and bottom.
- Attach the window sheet strips to the quadrants parallel to the top and bottom edge.
- Once you’ve stamped and fussy cut the images, you can attach these to the pop-up mechanism ensuring that they don’t jut out when card is closed.
Inside layers for greeting and addressing recipient
- Apply adhesive to the remaining exposed mechanism.
- Orient the front of the card at 90 degrees so that it is half closed. Align the Shy Shamrock layer so that it is flush with the top and bottom and butted right against the pop-up mechanism and close front of card over to top.
- Stamp as desired on Basic White layer and adhere to Shy Shamrock layer underneath.
