Card Sketch – surprise pop-up. Today’s project is this darling Terrific Toadstools Bundle. Did you know that there are card sketches on page 12 of the January-April 2024 mini? Stampin’ Up! introduced card sketches in hard copies of their catalogues and it has been such a great source of inspiration. How to make card

Following the card sketch pictured in Card Sketch section.

1. Pumpkin Pie card base : 5 ¾” x 8 ¼” (14.5 cm x 21 cm) folded in half.
2. Toadstool Gardens DSP : Cut at 2 ½” x 5″ (6.5 cm x 12.5 cm). Make a ¼” cut in centre at one end and cut from each corner to centre to create flag end. Adhere to card front.
3. Reverse Toadstool Gardens DSP and cut a Granny Apple Green square 3 ¼” x 3 ¼” (8 cm x 8 cm) and adhere on top of flag end layer.
4. Use the 2nd largest Stylish Shapes circle die to die cut a circle in Basic White. Adhere with dimensionals centred on square of Granny Apple DSP square.
5. On a scrap of Basic White, stamp mushrooms by inking the underside of the mushrooms with Smoky Slate Stampin’ Write marker, and the top of the mushrooms in Poppy Parade. Punch out images with Terrific Toadstools Builder punch. Adhere to Basic White circle.

How to make Label

1. Use a scrap of Pumpkin Pie and tap with embossing buddy before stamping sentiment with Versamark Ink.
2. Sprinkle with Basics Wow! embossing powder in white and heat set with Heat tool.
3. Place largest Stylish shapes flag end label die over sentiment and die cut. Shorten label by re-inserting die in stitched grooves and die cutting again. Repeat for other end.
4. Adhere on top of mushrooms on the circle with dimensionals.
5. Tie bow with Basic White Bakers twine from Bakers Twine Essentials Pack.

Inside card

1. Basic White layer : cut at 5 ⅜” x 3 ¾” (13.5 cm x 9.5 cm)
2. Stamp the hill twice in Garden Green on scrap of Basic White and fussy cut. Trim one at the highest point to adhere to pop-up mechanism and reserve the other one for later.
3. On Basic White piece, stamp another hill in Granny Apple Green at bottom right corner.
4. Stamp the trio of mushroom stems in Smoky Slate and the trio of mushroom tops in Poppy Parade.
5. Overlap remaining fussy cut hill on stamped hill and trim off excess on the left.
6. Adhere the stamped Basic White layer to inside of card leaving an even border on all 4 sides.
7. Next attach Pop-up mechanism. To create the pop-up mechanism, follow instructions below.

Pop-up mechanism

1. Cut a strip in Pumpkin Pie ½” x 4 ¼” (1.3 cm x 10.8 cm). On the long side score at 1″, 2″, 3″ and 4″ (2.5 cm, 5 cm, 7.5 cm and 10 cm).
2. Place adhesive or tear and tape on the end tab to join the ends together to form a square.
3. Apply adhesive on the adjacent sides shown in middle picture.
4. Remove backing paper (if using tear and tape). Butt it up to score line so that it is at right angles to card front. Adhere on top of Basic White card stock. Flatten mechanism and close front of card on to and allow to bond.

Card Sketch

This is the card sketch I used from the catalogue. I re-created the sketch myself because the picture in the catalogue was too small to replicate it and would have been blurred if I tried to enlarge it. I used the Stylish Shapes Dies to die cut my circle. Also included in the set, are stitched flag end label dies which can be used for the label.
