Nautical themed card – Ocean Friends. What colours do you associate with Nautical Themes? Do you veer toward blue hues, like me? Imagine my surprise when Stampin’ Up! took me out of my comfort zone and used hot pinks with a sprinkling of orange and acquamarine colours, but I’m going with the flow and see what the end result will be. So here goes!
Friends of the Ocean Suite
This suite collection spread spans 3 pages from page 30 to 32. By investing in the Ocean Friends Bundle and Friends of the Ocean 12″x 12″ (30.5 x 30.5 cm) DSP I earned Sale-a-bration’s Purple adhesive-backed sequins for free.

How to make card
Cutting guide
- Card base – Summer Splash 4″ x 11 ½” (10.5 x 29 cm)
- Basic White – 2 pieces cut at 3 ¾” x 5 ½” (10 cm x 14 cm)
Embossing
- Use blending brushes to apply Pumpkin Pie followed by Calypso Coral on the bottom third of both pieces of Basic White card stock.
- Also lightly apply Summer Splash with a blending brush to the remaining white area.
- On one of the Basic White pieces for the inside of the card, stamp the seaweed in Summer Splash in the bottom left corner.
- *Partially insert each Basic White piece into Soft Waves 3D embossing folder. *It is recommended that you run the embossing folder in the same direction as the handle but to create this effect, you have to place the embossing folder on its side. Just take care that the embossing folder is away from the edge of the Cut and Emboss machine so that it doesn’t touch the sides and damage the embossing folder.
Note: The reason you do the blending technique before embossing is so that you have an even distribution of colour. If you blend after embossing, you will have an uneven distribution of colour as the surface is uneven.
