Fun gatefold – Marbled Elegance. Today’s fun gatefold is a Star Gatefold made from 12″ x 12″ card stock. My thanks to Tami White, a US demonstrator who made photo cards for Christmas for the inspiration.
The Marbled Elegance Suite burst on to the scene as an Online Exclusive in November 2024. What with Christmas and the New Year, I just didn’t get round to tackle this suite till now. It’s perfect timing as Valentine’s Day is round the corner but of course, this stamp set can also used for anniversaries or birthdays too.
Cutting guide
- Main Card Base in Melon Mambo cut at 12″ x 4″ (30 cm x 10 cm). On the long side score at 2″, 4″ 8″ and 10″ (5 cm, 10 cm, 20 cm, and 25 cm)
- Secondary Card Base cut 2 pieces Melon Mambo squares 4″ x 4″ (10 cm x 10 cm). Cut 1 diagonally.
Mat Layers
- Square Gold Mat #1 layers cut 3 : 3 ¾” x 3 ¾” (9.5 cm x 9.5 cm). On two of the Gold mat layers put in trimmer and cut ¼” frame and reserve insides for a future project. For the third Gold Mat layer, cut diagonally in half and gut inside by cutting ¼” frame on the straight edges.
- Rectangle Gold Mat #1 layers cut 4 : 3 ¾” x 1 ¼” (9.5 cm x 3.2 cm). Gut inside by cutting ¼” frame – reserve insides for a future project.
- Mat #2 layers – 1 of DSP and 2 in Very Vanilla : 3 ½” x 3 ½” (9 cm x 9 cm). Cut one of the Very Vanilla pieces diagonally and emboss with So Swirly Embossing Folder then set aside.
- Cut 4 DSP Mat #2 layers : 3 ½” x 1 ½” (9 cm x 3.8 cm).
Assembly instructions
- Adhere the Gold Mat #1 layers on Main card base (pictured on the right in the third row of pictures above), Melon Mambo square and triangles.
- Next adhere Rectangle DSP Mat #2 layers on top of the gold mat layers on main card base but NOT the square one. Set square one aside for later.
- Apply adhesive to embossed triangles and adhere to the Melon Mambo triangles as pictured in middle picture above.
- Shut the card (picture on left) and run tear n’ tape on the fold in the middle on either side and attach the two triangle layers. You can also add more adhesive on the underside of triangles to reinforce it bonding to main card base.
- Temporarily attach the square DSP you set aside. Align points on grid paper making sure the Melon Mambo square in diamond orientation is centred on square. Mark with a pencil where the DSP intersects and cut the angles off as shown with white dashed lines.
Finishing touches
- Stamp as desired on the cut panel with the Hearts of Elegance stamps and adhere to the inside of card as shown on picture. I gold embossed the greetings.
- Die cut a gold heart and a Melon Mambo heart with the Hearts of Elegance dies.
- Adhere Melon Mambo heart to the gold heart.
- Attach dimensionals only to the left side of heart and then adhere to left side of gatefold.
- Stamp “Happy Valentine’s Day” in Versamark and gold emboss then fussy cut and adhere with dimensionals on the heart.
- Attach the Adhesive-backed heart sequins as a finishing touch.
