Altered Heirloom Arrangements Kit

Altered Heirloom Arrangements Kit. The Heirloom Arrangements Kit is such a fabulous kit because there are so many laser cut pop out pieces. You can follow the instructions to make 8 cards, but I challenged myself to make more.

Following the kit instructions, each card would have used an inordinate amount of elements in the pack, so I opted to use 2 elements for each card in order to make the supplies go further. For my card bases, I used the Assorted pack of Basic White Note cards and envelops. I also had some old stock of Assorted Basic Notecards which were slightly bigger and needed using up.

Simply by adding a stamp set and dies which I already had in my stash, some extra ink for a bit of variety I quadrupled the volume of cards to make from this kit.

Mixed Labels Bundle, new online exclusive Pattern of Friendship die, and Fully Flowering Mix & Match Ephemera Pack

I cut up the pre-printed card bases as well as the envelops to use as mat layers and spare “card stock” for stamping labels from the Mixed Labels Bundle and extra butterflies which I fussy cut. A couple of the cards needed a little extra so I used the Fully Flowering Mix & Match Ephemera Pack as well. I also used a new online exclusive die to create texture for a background with the Pattern of Friendship die which will be available from 4 March.

In the picture below, these are the designs in the kit which will make 8 cards in all. There are rather a lot of ephemera just for one card. So by deconstructing the card bases, and even cutting the envelops I was able to make 33 cards using all the laser cut elements in the kit.

Some tips on how to make the cards

  • I “budgeted” using 2 elements for each card.
  • You can stamp the grid on some of the cards to make the elements “pop”.
  • In some instances when I felt the card needed something extra, I stamped the butterfly image from the kit’s stamp set on the envelop scraps and fussy cut them.
  • Some of the velllum pop-outs were quite long for the smaller note cards. You can trim them as appropriate and re-arrange them to make them look “fuller”. See if you can spot which ones I “doctored”!
  • For most of the cards I used the Pecan Pie stampin’ spot but added Bubble Bath and Lost Lagoon ink for some variety.
  • On the Sunflower, I coloured it with Daffodil Delight and Pecan Pie Stampin’ blends

Envelops and pre-printed card base Mat layers

On the large note cards, I used the inside of the printed envelops and also the pre-printed card bases as Mat Layers. With a larger area to cover, I stamped several butterflies and fussy cut them to help cover up the space.

Some of the elements were actually tags. I used linen thread with a double strand and tied a bow and secured it with glue dots.

Well, that’s my contribution for today – 33 cards in all and that’s 25 cards more than the 8 cards the kit was intended for. Now I’ll have to think of 33 people to send these cards to!
