Altered kit card series

Altered kit card series. So Much to Congratulate is a card kit recently released. The kit has all the materials needed to create 9 cards, 3 each of 3 designs. This week, I’m going to show you how to alter the cards in this card kit and stretch the supplies so that you’ll be able to make 15 cards altogether from the this kit instead of 9.

So Much To Celebrate Kit

These are the original designs which I followed “verbatim”. In the first out of 3 Altered Kit card series, I’m tackling the Congratulations slim card in the top right.

Materials used

These are the Countryside Flowers Bundle, Sweetly Scripted which is retiring but is available in the Last Chance list while stocks last, and a new online exclusive available from 4 March called Pattern of Friendship Bundle.

Altered First card Design – long slim card

  • First, cut pre-printed long slim card in half so that you can use the 2 card fronts to make 2 cards and the backs to make another 2 cards, i.e., 4 cards plus the original kit card making 5 in total.
  • Next, cut 4 Basic White Thick card bases 6″ x 6″ (15 x 15 cm) and score one side at 3 ” (7.5 cm). Use 2 of the card bases to make a replica of the original kit design and reserve the other 2 as card bases for the other 2 back pieces.
How to make first altered cards
  • Adhere pre-printed card front to the slim card base 6″x 3″ (15 x 7.5 cm). Duplicate this on the second card base.
  • Decorate the card front per kit instructions on each of the two card bases.
Second & Third Altered cards
Second Altered card
  • Trim both pieces of the back of the cards so that each piece measures 2 ⅞” x 5 ⅞” (7 cm x 14 cm)
  • On a scrap of Basic White, stamp the flower arrangement on the left twice, and the one on the right once in Tuxedo black Memento ink. Die cut and colour the leaves with Old Olive, larger flowers in Petal Pink, smaller flowers in Balmy Blue.
  • Also die cut the extra elements in the die set with a combination of leaves, small and larger flowers with Basic White card stock and colour the leaves with Old Olive, larger flowers in Petal Pink, smaller flowers in Balmy Blue and the flower centres in Pumpkin Pie. Set aside.
  • Card on left (Design 2) : stamp Sweetly Scripted “happy birthday” in Pecan Pie on a ¾” (2 cm) strip of Basic white. Arrange Country Flowers die cuts as pictured on the left with dimensionals and add ladybird and adhere to Mat layer. Flip it on the back and trim off excess then adhere mat layer to Basic White thick card base.
Third Altered card
  • Design 3 (card on the right) : place back of card piece on Pattern of Friendship die and run it through die cutting machine. Then turn card stock a quarter turn 90 degrees and run it through the other way to create a plaid effect.
  • Stamp Sweetly Scripted “a million thanks” in Pecan Pie on a ¾” strip of Basic White and adhere to mat layer with dimensionals as pictured. Flip it on the back and trim excess off.
  • Adhere remaining Country Flowers floral piece as pictured and add two ladybirds toward right below sentiment as shown and glue to front of card base as pictured.
