Floating Tent Fold – Textured Notes. Here’s a sneak peek at the Textured Notes Bundle which is one of the new Online Exclusives available from 4 March 2025. It is part of the Botanical Textures Suite Collection. There is a stamp set called Textured Notes in Cling and Textured Notes dies to co-ordinate with it, a Mini Corrugated 3D embossing folder, 1 pack of Botanical Textures 12″x 12″ (30.5 x 30.5 cm) Designer Series Papers and 1 pack of Woven Textures 12″x 12″ (30.5 x 30.5 cm) DSP, ribbon and Neutral matte dots.
When Stampin’ Up! retired the Stitched Rectangle dies, I was really sad. By the way, I’ve kept mine for personal use, but they’ve replaced it with the Textured Notes dies which have patterns in the frames which is really cool! Here’s what I made with it.
Fun Floating Tent Fold card
I’m not a fan of tent folds because they tend to slide and eventually fall flat when displayed. So this one has been designed with an extra piece at the bottom to prevent it from doing that. The floating piece is actually the rectangle cut from the front of the card which you can then attach to the card base with another piece of card stock adhered behind but not visible from the front. It’s as simple as that!
Cutting guide
- Card base Basic Beige : 4 ⅛” x 11 ½” (10.5 cm x 29 cm). On the long side score at 5 ¾” (14.5 cm)
- DSP card front and inside : Cut 2 pieces 3 ⅞” x 5 ½” (9.5 cm x 14 cm). Adhere one of the pieces to card front first before die cutting with the *Textured Notes dies. (*Altogether there are 8 dies in the set, 7 nested ones, and one small rectangle on its own. In the 7 nested rectangle dies, no. 1 is the smallest and no. 7 is the largest. Select no. 5 to die cut the middle of your card front. Set aside for the floating panel later). Use the reverse side of the DSP for the back portion of card, but do not adhere this yet.
- Scrap of Basic White for stamping and die cutting with No. 4 Textured Notes die.
- Basic Beige scrap for stamping greeting with No. 1 Textured Notes die.
Bridging pieces and Floating mechanism
- Bridging piece for bottom of Tent card Basic Beige : 4″ x 4 ⅛” (10 cm x 10 cm). On the short side @ 4″ (10 cm) score at ½”, 1 ¼”, 2″, 2 ¾”, 3 ½” (1 cm, 3 cm, 5 cm, 7 cm, 9 cm).
- Basic Beige floating mechanism : 1 ½” x 2 ¾” (4 cm x 7 cm) Short side score at ¾” (2 cm) to be adhered to back of Textured Notes die cut piece. Apply tear n’ tape to both sides as pictured
- Pecan Pie outside back of Tent card : 3 ⅞” x 5 ½” (9.5 cm x 14 cm)
- Basic White layer #2 outside back of Tent card : 3 ¾” x 5 ⅜” (9 cm x 13.5 cm)
Assembly instructions
- Adhere one of the DSP pieces to card front before positioning no. 5 die in centre and run through die cutting machine (picture on left).
- Apply adhesive to ½” (1 cm) panels on bridging piece (middle picture). The two ½” panels are Valley folds. Align and attach the bottom one with edge of card base on bottom and sides.
- Next adhere the reverse side of DSP to the back of the Tent card to cover up the ½” panel before you adhere the remaining ½” panel to seal the Tent card (picture on right).
- Remove backing tape on the ½” panel at the top, and close card to create tent and seal shut.
- Take floating mechanism folded in half and align the fold to the top of the die cut floating panel as shown above.
- Remove backing tape as shown in picture on right.
- Insert through aperture as pictured on the left.
- The middle picture shows a side view of the floating panel attached to back of Tent card.
- Picture on the right displays the front.
- Centre and adhere the stamped No. 4 die cut piece with dimensionals on the floating panel.
- Apply dimensionals to the No. 1 stamped and die cut Basic Beige piece on bottom of frame.
- Add the tiny bee trinkets to finish.
- Adhere Pecan Pie layer first.
- Stamp and adhere Basic White layer next to complete card.
