Mothers Day card – Fancy Borders. I was inspired by Stampin’ Up!’s sample so here is my version. You can use the same lay out but I just switched the sentiment and paper to make it into a Mother’s Day card with “She’s the Greatest” stamp set.
Cutting guide
- Card base : Boho Blue 8 ¼” x 5 ¾” (21 cm x 14.5 cm)
- First mat layer one for front and one for inside: Cut 2 pieces of Petunia Pop 5 ½” x 3 ⅞” (14 cm x 9.8 cm)
- Second mat layer card front : DSP from Thoughtful Journey 6″x 6″ cut at 5 ⅜” x 3 ¾” (13.5 cm x 9.5 cm)
- Third mat layer card front : Cut 1 piece Shy Shamrock 3 ¾” x 3 ¾” for die cutting fancy edge borders top and bottom.
- Fourth mat layer card front : Cut 1 piece Petunia Pop for die cutting 2nd fancy edge border and white embossing
How to die cut the inside Basic White layer
In order to incorporate the die cut border with the hearts border die, you have to use the die to cut the entire length of the die from a larger piece of Basic White then trim it down.
- Align the heart border die along the edge of Basic White card stock and die cut.
- Trim card stock so that it measures 5 ¼” x 3 ⅝” (13.3 cm x 9.2 cm).
Tip: After trimming, I found that it needed another hole to the left of the first die cut heart so I used the ⅛” circle punch from the Hole Punch Assortment to punch another circle to balance it.
Assembly instructions
- Adhere Petunia Pop layer to front of card.
- Mark top and bottom of Shy Shamrock square at 1 ⅞” and draw a light pencil line. Place die in centre butted up to the edge, secure with low tack tape or post-it note and die cut. Repeat for opposite edge. Erase pencil lines and adhere on top of DSP.
- Stamp in Versamark and emboss with Basic White embossing powder. Die cut with 2nd pattern border die and adhere on top of Shy Shamrock layer.
- Use the small heart stamp and stamp on Shy Shamrock layer in Versamark and white emboss that too, as pictured.
Inside card
- Adhere Petunia Pop layer to inside card base leaving an even border on all four sides.
- the Basic White die cut heart border die piece on top of Petunia Pop layer.
