Note of appreciation – Textured Notes

Note of appreciation – Textured Notes. I’m using the Textured Notes stamps and dies bundle. Today’s card encompasses a couple of techniques like embossing and fussy cutting and even a little masking!

I find it difficult to use black, and the Botanical Textures 12″x 12″ (30.5 x 30.5 cm) Designer Series Papers are different shades of black. It was quite a challenge to try and create with this colour combo, consequently, I stuck to Basic Gray, Smoky Slate and White to soften it.

Today’s card showcases the nested rectangular dies. The edges of the dies have different patterns. I used the largest (no. 7), the 3rd smallest (no. 3) and the smallest (no. 1).

How to make the card

Card front
  1. Card base in Basic Gray cut at 5 ¾” x 8 ¼” (14.5 cm x 21 cm) and folded in half.
  2. Smoky Slate layer – die cut with largest Textured Notes Die no. 7. Stamp in Smoky Slate as pictured.
  3. DSP die cut 1 piece with 3rd smallest Textured Notes Die no. 3. Adhere to left of Smoky Slate layer.
  4. Scrap of Basic White : Stamp 2 small leaf images – one in Smoky Slate and the other in Basic Gray. Fussy cut and set aside.
  5. Stamp circular basket weave image in Smoky Slate on Basic White scrap and punch out with 2″ circle punch.
  6. On a scrap of Basic Gray, use a embossing buddy to prevent static before stamping sentiment with Versamark Ink. Sprinkle with white embossing powder and heat set. Once cooled and dry, die cut with Textured Notes Die no. 1 (the smallest rectangle in the nest).
  7. Adhere circle first, arrange and adhere the leaves on top of circle.
  8. Apply dimensionals on back of Basic Gray sentiment and adhere on top of leaves.
  9. Add trio of Neutral Matte Dots to complete card front.
  10. Flip Smoky Slate layer over and attach dimensionals to back and adhere to card front.
Inside card
  1. Die cut Basic White layer with largest Textured Notes Die no. 7.
  2. Stamp circular basket weave on post-it note and fussy cut just inside line to use as a mask.
  3. In bottom right corner stamp circular basket weave in Smoky Slate ink.
  4. Align post-it note with stamped image and stamp smaller leaf images over top of mask. When you remove mask, the leaves will appear as though they are behind the basket weave image.
  5. Adhere a strip of DSP over the top as pictured.
  6. Apply adhesive to back of Basic White layer and adhere to inside of card.
