Pinwheel topper – Silly Safari

Pinwheel topper – Silly Safari. Today’s card has a fun element with a pinwheel topper using the Silly Safari stamp set. Recently I made a flip flap card using this same stamp set which you can see HERE. The animals are so cute, I just had to make more!

Today’s card has a pinwheel topper, so when you pull it apart it reveals another image of the cheetah.

How to create pinwheel topper

When I took the photos, the pinwheel topper had already been adhered to a Garden Green 3 ¼” x 3 ¼” mat layer which had also been adhered to the card base. I would suggest you construct your pinwheel first, before adhering to the mat layer.

• Score a 6″x 6″ (15.2 cm x 15.2 cm) piece of DSP on all 4 sides at 1 ½” (3.8 cm).
• Cut away the 4 corners created by the intersecting score lines (picture on left)

• Burnish all score lines. Fold first flap in and turn right corner down to meet bottom of fold.
• Turn pinwheel ¼ turn clockwise and repeat with 2nd fold.

• Rotate pinwheel ¼ turn clockwise for 3rd fold.
• Turn pinwheel ¼ turn clockwise for 4th fold and tuck into first fold.

Mat layers for inside pinwheel topper

1. Garden Green : 2 ¾” x 2 ¾” (7 cm x 7 cm). Adhere to inside of pinwheel topper leaving an even border on all 4 sides.
2. Basic White mat layer : 2 ½” x 2 ½” (6.5 cm x 6.5 cm). Stamp leaves and cheetah. Colour with Stampin’ Blends in Crumb Cake and light Timid Tiger.

Mat layers for front of card

1. Garden Green mat layer for pinwheel : 3 ¼” x 3 ¼” (7.5 cm x 7.5 cm). Once the pinwheel has been created adhere to this mat layer.
2. Basic White Mat layer : 5 ½” x 3 ⅞” (14 cm x 9.8 cm). Stamp cheetah and greeting and colour as pictured.

Card base

1. Garden Green card base cut at 5 ¾” x 8 ¼” (14.5 cm x 21 cm).
2. Score on long side at 4 ⅛” (10.5 cm).

Inside card

1. Cut Basic White piece at 5 ½” x 3 ⅞” (14 cm x 9.8 cm).
2. Stamp leaves in bottom left and top right corner and adhere to inside of card base.
