Twelve week Christmas Countdown Series

Twelve week Christmas Countdown Series – starts today. Every consecutive Friday from today (episode 1), I will post a Christmas themed project for 12 weeks up until Friday 5 December which will be the 12th episode.

I have picked the Traditions of Christmas for Week 1. This is a mega suite with 2 bundles – Traditional Labels Bundle which only has words and the Christmas Greenery bundle which only has images. The Traditions of Christmas 12″x 12″ (30.5 x 30.5 cm) Specialty Paper have gold foil in it. Colours in the papers are Cherry Cobbler, gold, Old Olive, Pool Party, Real Red, and Secret Sea.

Z-fold card

1. Cut card base in Secret Sea at 4 ⅛” x 11 ½” (10.5 cm x 29 cm). Score long side at 2 ⅞” and 5 ¾” (7.25 cm and 14.5 cm).
2. Fold in half at the 5 ¾” (14.5 cm) score line, then fold back front of card at the 2 ⅞” (7.25 cm) score line.

Branching Out dies

1. Use the 2nd Largest die to die cut a layer in Secret Sea card stock.
2. Die cut 1 x Old Olive and 1 x Basic White piece with the 3rd largest die.

Traditional Labels Die

1. Stamp “Season’s Greetings” on a scrap of Basic White card stock.
2. Position corresponding die over stamped greeting and die cut.
3. Apply tear n’ tape on left side of banner and a dimensional on the right side. If you flip banner over to its under side, then the tape will be on the right and the dimensional will be on the left.

Christmas Greenery Die

1. Use the large floral spray die to die cut corresponding image from the DSP.
2. Die cut a second out of a scrap of Basic White card stock.
3. Align and adhere DSP to Basic White piece for added strength.
4. Old Olive card stock : partially die cut pine branch and a pair of holly leaves.
5. Real Red card stock : die cut bow. This will come in three separate pieces in the one die with one pass through the die cutting machine i.e., the loops of the bow, the tail, and the knot. Apply adhesive to the top middle of tail and adhere loops on top. Then apply adhesive to middle of bow loops and adhere square knot in middle of bow.

Designer Series Paper and embossed panel

1. Front and inside panel 1 : cut a piece (reverse side) 3 ⅞” x 2 ⅝” (9.8 cm x 6.5 cm) Secret Sea side.
2. Inside left front panel 2 : Old Olive embossed with Traditional Wreath 3D embossing folder
3. Right panel inside : 5 ½” x 3 ⅞” (14 cm x 9.8 cm)

Gold embossing inside Basic White layer

1. On the Basic White Branching Out die cut piece, partially stamp the corner with the floral bouquet stamp with Versamark ink.
2. Sprinkle with Wow Metallics Gold embossing powder and heat set.
3. Use the solid stamps to fill in the linear images using the two step stamp method. Flowers with Bubble Bath ink and leaves with Old Olive ink.

Assembling card

1. Adhere 5 ½” x 3 ⅞” (14 cm x 9.8 cm) piece of DSP to the inside right of card base leaving an even border on all 4 sides.
2. Centre Secret Sea piece and adhere on top of DSP as pictured above followed by the Basic White piece.
3. Adhere embossed Old Olive piece as shown above. Optional : If you have a scrap piece of DSP, you can fussy cut that and adhere to the un-embossed section.
4. Next adhere one of the Secret Sea DSP pieces to the left of the embossed Old Olive panel.
5. Close card. Fold back front half so that the Secret Sea DSP is exposed on top of card.

Attaching floral elements and sentiment

1. Apply adhesive to only half of the Old Olive layer, aligning it with the White layer inside the card so that no white bits show.
2. Attach floral spray with dimensionals in bottom left corner.
3. Insert pine branch in top left corner and adhere.
4. Arrange holly leaves and adhere as shown, then attach bow with a glue dot.
5. Remove backing tape on dimensional and tear n’ tape and adhere as shown
6. Finish with adhering trio of gold Traditional Sprakling Sequins.

I’ve omitted extra mat layers so that it will be easier to post. However, if you plan on hand delivering your cards you could add the extra layers if desired.
