Fun fold birthday card

Fun fold birthday card. I’m catching up! Having concentrated on Christmas themed projects in December 2025, I can at last break out the Online Exclusives released in November!!! Later than I had intended but looking forward to the new year in 2026!

Brushed with Beauty Suite Collection

For this fun fold birthday card, I’ve used the Brushed with Beauty Suite Collection products, an online exclusive introduced in November 25. This is a mega suite because it has 2 bundles, an image only bundle called Petals of Beauty and a words only bundle called Words of Beauty.

They’ve brought back some vellum (hurrah!) and these are in 12″x 12″ (30.5 x 30.5 cm) specialty paper pack which has patterns in them! There is also a Beautiful Pattern embossing folder, the usual coordinating pack of Designer Series Papers and of course Pearls of Beauty embellishments.

I made a fun fold double decker card. From the side view you can see how it has been assembled.

Cutting guide

Front and middle panels

1. Top front layer : Petal Pink cut at 3” x 4” (7.5 x 10.2 cm)
2. Very Vanilla for top front layer cut at 2 ¾” x 3 ¾” (7 cm x 9.5 cm). Stamp and decorate as desired (middle picture)
3. Middle layer : Petal Pink 3” x 4 ½”(7.5 cm x 11.5 cm)
4. DSP middle layer : 2 ¾” x 4 ¼” (7 cm x 10.8 cm). Distress all sides before adhering to Petal Pink layer.
5. Very Vanilla piece for middle layer : 2 ¼” x 3 ¾” (7 cm x 9.5 cm). Stamp as desired and add greeting.

Card base and double decker pop-up mechanism

1. Card base : Petal Pink 5 ¾” x 8 ¼” (14.5 cm x 21 cm).  Long side score at 4 ⅛” (10.5 cm) and fold card front in ½ then burnish with bone folder.
2. DSP – cut 2 pieces pattern A – (folded back) 1 ¾” x 5 ½” (9.5 x 14 cm). Adhere one piece with floral pattern on left panel and flip the other piece on reverse side (pattern B) and adhere to middle panel.
3. DSP – cut 1 piece inside back panel pattern A at 3 ⅞” x 5 ½” (9.8 x 14 cm) and adhere as shown.
4. Double Decker pop-up mechanism : Cut Petal Pink card stock 2 ¼” x 3” (5.7 cm x 7.5 cm). ).  Score on long side at ¾”, 1 ½” and 2 ¼”. (1.9 cm, 3.8 cm, and 5.7 cm)
5. Fold outer panels of mechanism inwards to form gatefold and apply adhesive as shown.

How to attach the double decker pop-up mechanism and middle layer

1. Remove backing tape on double decker pop-up mechanism, align with 4 ⅛” (10.5 cm) score line equi-distant top and bottom and adhere to card base.
2. Flatten card base so that the top of pop-up mechanism is visible and apply adhesive or tear n’ tape on top as pictured. Remove backing tape and adhere middle panel equi-distant from top and bottom at the same time ensuring that the card will close smoothly without obstruction.

Attaching top layer

1. Close card and flip Top Front layer over on the reverse. Apply adhesive as pictured above on left.
2. Remove backing tape, align layer with top, bottom and side of Middle layer as well as the top, bottom and both sides of the main card before adhering.
3. To finish the card add Pearls of Beauty embellishments as pictured on both layers.
