Happy New Year

Happy New Year – I don’t normally post on a Thursday so a belated greeting to say Happy New Year!

Here’s a card to get you in the mood and an opportunity to introduce the Swirled Designs stamps and dies bundle. They’re great for stamping backgrounds in any configuration because they’re abstract images. Today I’m combining it with the Sign Designs stamps and punch bundle which was an online exclusive introduced in September 2025. I chose this because it had a Happy New Year banner.

Pop-up Petals

Also included is another online exclusive introduced in November 25 called Pop-Petals. It can so easily be overlooked, but I loved it because it can die cut the pop up element for you without any hassle. I’ve used it for the inside of the card, pictured below.

Cutting guide

1. Card base : Petal Pink 5 ¾” x 8 ¼” (14.5 cm x 21 cm) folded in half.
2. Front of card : Basic White layer 3 ⅞” x 5 ½” (9.8 cm x 14 cm)
3. Inside pop-up layer Basic White 5 ½” x 8” (14 cm x 20 cm) folded in half. Burnish score line well. Take the larger Pop-Up petal die and align points in die with score line, secure with low tack tape and run through die cutting machine.
4. Fold Basic White inside layer as pictured in middle picture above.
5. When opened, it should resemble picture on the right.

Inside card elements

1. Boho Vibes 6″x 6″ (15.2 x 15.2 cm) DSP : cut 2 pieces 1 ⅛” x 1 ⅛” (2.9 cm x 2.9 cm) and adhere to pop-up aperture.
2. Basic White Scrap – stamp stars in Pool Party, Calypso Coral and Daffodil Delight and fussy cut. Attach with Tear n’ Tape or glue dots to ¼” (0.5 cm) acetate pieces. Do not adhere to inside of box until after you’ve adhered the banner.
3. Die cut the box tops in Petal Pink and adhere as shown in picture.
4. Randomly dot wet adhesive and adhere Gold Shaker Stars as shown. Work small areas at a time so that glue doesn’t dry and stars will adhere properly.

Adhering banner and stars

1. On Basic White scrap, stamp with Calypso Coral ink “happy new year” from Sign Designs stamp set and punch out with Sign Design Punch. Fold in half and score either side at ⅛” (0.3 cm). Follow instructions in photo to adhere to inside of card.
2. After adhering the banner, you can attach the stars on the acetate strips. Trim at different heights inside pop-up box. Ensure it doesn’t hinder closing of the card. Put tear n’ tape on top of the acetate strips, remove backing tape and adhere to inside of pop-up box as pictured.

Front of card

1. Use a blending brush and apply a light colour of Petal Pink over the whole of the card.
2. On scrap of Basic White, stamp 2nd generation Petal Pink ink with circular stamp then stamp the stars in first generation Petal Pink ink to cover the whole area. Die cut with Star frame from Swirled Designs die. Discard frame, but keep the inside and adhere inside to top left of card front.
3. Attach adhesive sheet to back of Petal Pink Scrap and die cut Star frame from Swirled Designs dies. Remove backing and use the adhered inside of the star to guide Star frame around the contour ensuring there are no gaps.
4. Stamp label with Petal Pink ink on Petal Pink card stock using the Sign Design stamps and punch. Attach dimensionals on the back and adhere as shown.
5. Apply tiny dots of wet adhesive and adhere Gold Shaker stars randomly. Remember to work small areas at a time.

This card might take some time and patience but the end result is fab, in my humble opinion – I was pleased with the result. Best wishes to one and all for a Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year in 2026!
