Pocket card – Eden Garden Collection

It’s a new pocket card using the newly launched Eden Garden Collection! With Halloween passed, I’m concentrating on autumn. FYI, the stamp set and dies are an early release from the January-July 2022 mini. The rest of the items in the collection are while stocks last, so if you love it, then there’s no time like the present!

The patterned papers are gorgeous, with gold foiling and in addition, some Cotton Paper in Evening Evergreen and Soft Succulent.

Adding autumnal elements

The papers and embellishements are in shades of green, and because I wanted to incorporate “autumn” into it, I took some artistic licence and added a touch of Pumpkin pie and also the sentiments from the Pretty Pumpkins stamp set.

Additional Stamps

There wasn’t a suitable sentiment in the Eden Garden stamp set, so I added the Pretty Pumpkins stamp set. It had “gather together” which I stamped on Soft Succulent card stock and then fussy cut. On the card insert, I stamped “so thankful for you”, also from the Pretty Pumpkins stamp set.

The Eden’s Garden stamp set is in Stampin’ Up!’s DistINKtive category. Etched into the stamp is a 3-dimensional look with areas of light and shade. Such a clever innovation, because you can achieve this look with just one single action, whereas in some stamp sets, you have to use 2 or even 3 different stamps to get the same effect.

Altering the shape

There are pretty leaf frames in a rectangular shape in the Eden dies. However, they were too large to fit on my pocket card front. You can alter the shape by snipping it in pieces to create a round shape instead. I introduced Pumpkin Pie to add an autumn feel and adhered a second layer of the wreath on top in Evening Evergreen.

Border die

Border dies are a fabulous. They can be used to enhance the straight edges of a card. In this sample, there is a turnover of the front of the pocket piece. When you’re die cutting this piece, think of which way up you place your die so that when you turn the turnover down, the correct side of the die cut is the right way round. If not, you will see the underside of the die cut which is less attractive.
