Can you believe it’s already week 4 of 6 in my 6-week Halloween Countdown series and this week I made a layered Halloween card using both the Bewitching stamp set and the Hello Harvest stamp set.
The Bewitching Stamp set has a coordinating Hat builder punch which you can purchase together to save 10%. One of the images in the Bewitching stamp set is a pair of Witch’s feet and stockings and I thought it would be cool to have her standing on a pumpkin. There’s a lovely plump one in the Hello Harvest stamp set and I love the coordinating dies in that set too. I digress, so back to this card.
It’s been a while since I worked with the blending brushes and stampin’ blends. I cut a Basic Black Frame with the Scalloped Contour dies (another favourite) to mount on to a Parakeet Party card base. Parakeet Party is one of the new 2022-2024 In Colors and it’s a tad bright for me. However, it’s perfectly acceptable to use for Halloween cards.
The other item I’ve been itching to use the “Glitter Washi Four Pack” washi tape. I thought I could use it in lieu of patterned paper to break up the front of the card base for the scalloped contour frame to “sit” on.
Stamparatus
Whenever I need to stamp a solid image in black, I use Stampin’ Up!’s stamp positioning tool called the Stamparatus. It means I can stamp over the same image multiple times without fear of it going off kilter. Once I’d stamped and coloured the Witch’s feet, the pumpkin and spider, I could then colour in the images.
On a separate piece of card stock, I stamped the hat and coloured this in too with Parakeet Party Stampin’ Blends
Next I picked up the Parakeet Party ink and used a blending brush working in a circular motion off the paper initially, then on to the paper to add colour to the white spaces around the stamped images. The bottom half had more application of colour then gradually moved to the top without re-inking to create an ombre effect.
Extras
On a separate piece of Basic White cardstock, I stamped the Witch’s hat and coloured in the band and polka dots and then coloured in with Parakeet Party.
Inside card
I adhered a Basic Black mat layer first, before stamping and carrying on the blending technique on all four sides of the card stock. The spider was stamped on the top left and I blended all four sides with a blending brush in Parakeet Party ink.
