Christmas 5/12 – Hang an Ornament. Did you know there is a bundle called Hang an Ornament. You can find the bundle on page 44 of the September-December 2024 Mini. The die for the ornament has perforated edges so that the recipient can peel off the ornament.
Welcome to 5/12 – Hang an Ornament project – short hand for saying week 5 in my 12 week countdown to Christmas series.
Colour palette
I chose a non-traditional colour scheme for my card today. My colour palette is Basic Beige for the card base and Petal Pink and Pool Party for the ornaments using the Season of Elegance 12″x 12″ Specialty Designer Series Papers which feature hand painted gold textured backgrounds which are stunning.
Cutting guide
- Card base : Basic Beige 5 ¾” x 8 ¼” (14.5 cm x 21 cm) folded in half.
- Front and inside of card mat layer #1 : cut 2 pieces Petal Pink 3 ⅞” x 5 ⅝” (9.8 cm x 14.3 cm)
- Mat layer #2 DSP : Season of Elegance 12 x 12 Specialty DSP – 3 ¾” x 5 ½” (9.5 cm x 14 cm)
- Inside card mat layer #2 : Basic White cut 3 ¾” x 5 ½” (9.5 cm x 14 cm)
- Scraps of Pool Party and Petal Pink
- Textured Metallic 12 x 12 Specialty paper – scraps of gold to die cut leaves, circles, hook and bauble tops.
Assembly instructions
- Adhere one of the Petal Pink layers to front of card.
- Wind linen thread twice round DSP mat layer #2 and tie bow to right of card as pictured then adhere on top of Petal Pink layer leaving an even border all round.
- Die cut leaves, hooks, bauble tops and circles from gold foil. Set aside.
- Stamp bauble in Lost Lagoon ink on Pool Party scrap and die cut.
- On Petal Pink scrap, stamp bauble with Cajun Craze ink and die cut.
- Also die cut scallop centre strip with Pool Party and Petal Pink scraps.
- Adhere Petal Pink scallop to Pool Party Bauble and adhere the larger circle in the centre of scalloped panel and the remaining ones on either side. Lastly adhere directly on to middle of Pool Party bauble.
- Stamp the Pool Party scalloped piece with Lost Lagoon ink and attach to Petal Pink bauble with mini dimensionals.7
Attaching hooks, bauble tops and leaves
- Use glue dot to adhere hook at top of each bauble.
- Add another glue dot on top of hook and attach bauble top.
- Attach dimensionals to back of each bauble.
- Hook one of the baubles on the lower linen thread level at an angle and the remaining bauble on the upper level of linen thread near the bow.
- Apply a little adhesive to the bottom of each leaf. Insert and adhere each leaf behind each bauble on either side of bauble top.
Inside card
- Adhere Petal Pink layer to inside of card leaving an even border all round.
- Stamp and adhere Basic White layer on top of Petal Pink layer leaving an even border all round to complete card.
