Table favour- Frozen Edges. This is the final episode- 12 of 12 in my Christmas Series for 2024 and I have a table favour for you in the form of a cracker. Stampin’ Up! used to carry the envelop punch board and it is a really useful tool to have for making your own crackers. However in the absence of. specialist tools or dies, you can still create a cracker without them and I’ll show you how.
I also added a little banner from the Peaceful Season dies so that you can add your guest’s name on it so the cracker doubles up as a name place setter. As I couldn’t decide whether to use the Gold & Silver ⅛” ribbon or the Silver & White ½” sheer ribbon, I made one of each. Which do you prefer?
How to create the cracker
The stamp wasn’t long enough to stamp across the whole of the cracker so I used the retired Stamparatus to stamp a continuous line. It’s not necessary, but if you have a stamp positioning tool, why not use it?
- Cut Basic White card stock 6 ¼”x 6 ¼” larger than you need because the stamp won’t reach the edges. Stamp and silver emboss top and bottom.
- Once embossed, trim off the white bits so that it measures 6″ (16 cm)
- Rotate card stock to short side and trim on either side so that the width measures 5 ½” (13.5 cm – metric version is not a direct conversion)
- Having trimmed the cracker base to the correct size H 6″ x W 5 ½” you can stamp the middle using Pool Party ink.
Scoring
- Flip over to reverse side with short side on top and score at 1 ¼”, 2 ½”, 3 ¾” and 5″ (Metric : 3 cm, 6 cm, 9 cm, and 12 cm). The reason you score on the reverse side is so that you don’t damage the silver embossed side.
- Rotate card stock so long side is on top and score at 1″, 1 ½”, 2″, 4″, 4 ½” and 5″ (Metric: 2.5 cm, 4 cm, 5.5 cm, 10.5 cm, 12 cm, 13.5 cm)
- Burnish all score lines.
- Orient card stock so that the long side is top and bottom. Fold toward centre at 1 ½” and 4 ½” (4 cm and 12 cm) score line. Folds should face outwards.
- Cut a “V” shape to each score line as shown which form the cracker.
- Once you open it out it should look like the picture on the right above.
- Apply adhesive to the narrow tab to join the cracker together. Remember to put the treat in before you close it by tying your ribbon of choice at each end.
