We all need “Thank you” cards after the Christmas period don’t we but for my project today, I omitted using any greeting so I could add it to my emergency stash for any occasion when the need arose. I chose the new Soft waves 3D embossing folder and the Ocean Friends bundle from the Friends of the Ocean Suite on pages 30-32 of the January-April 2025 mini. The new mini will be available from 7 January and is valid until April 2025.
Cutting guide
- Card base Summer Splash cut at 5 ¾” x 8 ¼” (14.5 cm x 21 cm)
- Summer Splash front layers : Cut 2 pieces 2 ⅝” x 3 ⅞” (6.5 cm x 10 cm)
- Emboss one piece with Soft Waves 3D embossing folder.
- Stamp the other piece with birds image from Friendly Seagulls on the other piece.
- Glue embossed Summer Splash to bottom of card front leaving an even border on the bottom and two sides.
- Adhere stamped piece above a leaving an even border at the top and two sides.
- Cut a 1″ x 3 ⅞” (2.5 cm x 10 cm) strip of Friends of the Ocean 12″ x 12″ DSP and adhere on top of the embossed and stamped pieces to hide the join.
Stylish Shapes Dies
- Use the largest stitched circle die to die cut a large circle in Basic White.
- Stamp the sea shells and sand in Crumb Cake.
- Use a blending brush and lay down some colour on the bottom.
- Blend the top half of circle with Summer Splash.
- Cut a ½” (1.5 cm) strip of Basic White card stock and blend with Pecan Pie.
- Trim two pieces ½” (1.5 cm) strip one longer than the other. Insert into largest circle die and die cut. Align with bottom of circle and adhere with glue dots.
- Stamp the seagull on a scrap of Basic White, colour wings with Smoky Slate combo and the beak and feet with Lemon Lolly and fussy cut.
- Arrange seagull perched on the taller post and adhere with glue dots.
- Attach to card front as pictured with dimensionals.
- Add Sunny Day Iridescent dots to finish.
Inside card
- Cut a Basic White piece 3 ⅞” x 5 ½ ” (10 cm x 14 cm)
- Adhere remaining strip of DSP to inside about ½” from bottom.
- Trim off excess and adhere to inside of card
