Belated birthday card

Belated birthday card. We all need a belated birthday card sometimes so it’s always handy to have one or two set by as an emergency.

I used the Coneflower Celebrations Bundle which is on page 82 of the new May 25- April 26 Annual Catalogue. The image and the dies are huge! It virtually covers the whole card front! I love it though, because it’s something different. Maximum impact, minimum work – that’s a win, win in my book! There are not many stamp sets with the sentiment “Happy belated birthday” so I thought it would be a good idea to make one or two as a stand-by.

Elements of Text

The Elements of Text stamp set is an Online Exclusive which was released in March 2025. Ink used is Early Espresso which I stamped off on a scrap of copy paper before stamping onto the Basic White layer for both text and splatters so that it would be a paler shade.

Coneflower Celebrations Dies

The Coneflower Celebration die in the top left corner can fold over to create 2 layers of petals. In the top right corner, there is a “cut and emboss die” which adds texture to one of the petals on the largest die before folding it over to create the two layers (refer picture of card above). Then die cut the centre of the flower in Early Espresso separately and align and adhere to flower head as pictured above.

How to make card

Card front

1. Card base : Petal Pink cut at 5 ¾” x 8 ¼” (14.5 cm x 21 cm) and folded in half.
2. Early Espresso card stock 3 ⅞” x 5 ½” (9.8 cm x 14 cm) – adhere to card front.
3. Basic White layer : 3 ¾” x 5 ⅜” . Ink Elements of Text circular stamp with Early Espresso Ink, stamp off before stamping on in middle of card stock.
4. Splatter patterns : ink up the splatter patterns and stamp off before stamping on Basic White card front randomly as pictured.
5. Die cut largest double petal die first, then on one of the petals, align and die cut more detailed petal die.
6. Use blending brush to create light and shade on the petals with Petal Pink ink before folding and adhering head of coneflower together.
7. Early Espresso scrap – die cut flower head, align and adhere to Petal Pink folded petal piece.
8. Stamp stem and leaves with Early Espresso ink on Shy Shamrock card stock and die cut. This is a short cut so you don’t have to colour it.
9. Arrange and adhere to front of card with glue and stampin’ dimensionals as pictured. (Flower head, stem and leaf tips are adhered directly on to card front, but raised up with dimensionals to add “movement” in the middle.)
10. On a scrap of Petal Pink, stamp “happy belated birthday”, trim and adhere with dimensionals as shown.

Inside card

1. Cut Basic White card stock at 5 ½” x 3 ⅞” (14 cm x 9.8 cm).
2. On scrap of Petal Pink stamp the Coneflower image from stamp set with Early Espresso ink.
3. Colour in flower head with Dark Pecan Pie Stampin’ Blend.
4. Die cut flower and set aside.
5. Stamp the stem in bottom left corner and colour in with Shy Shamrock combo.
6. Ink up splatter pattern from Coneflower Celebrations stamp set, stamp off before stamping on for a lighter shade.
7. Adhere Coneflower image in bottom left corner, flip card stock over and trim off any excess. Once this has been trimmed, you can adhere this to inside of card base.
8. Lastly stamp “I’m sorry I missed…………..etc” in Early Espresso Ink and stamp butterfly also.
9. Colour butterfly with Petal Pink and Shy Shamrock combo Stampin’ Blends to complete card.
