Easter treat box

Easter treat box. Today’s project is an Easter treat box which holds an Easter chick. I’ve used a combination of stamps and dies from Notes of Spring (product of the month for March), the Easter Basket Bundle and the Stylish Shapes dies to create an aperture in the front of the box so that you could see the chick.

Template for box

1. Cut a piece of Darling Duckling at 7 ¼” x 8 ⅞” (18.5 cm x 22.5 cm).
2. Long side at the top, score at 1 ⅝”, 4 ⅛”, 5 ¾” and 8 ¼” (4.1 cm, 10.5 cm, 14.5 cm and 21 cm)
3. Rotate card stock so short side is at the top and score at 1 ⅝”, 5″, 6 ⅝” (4.1 cm, 12.7 cm and 16.8 cm).
4. Now that all the scoring has been done, with the narrow panel on the right, cut up to the first score line as shown in picture on the left. On the opposite side cut along the vertical score lines to 2nd horizontal score line.
5. Follow the picture and cut away the small rectangle in middle picture, and the narrow panel and end panel – this is the back of the box. Punch a finger hole with ½” circle punch.
6. Corner round flap on box lid with corner rounder punch (retired).

Die cutting circle for front of box

1. Use the Stylish Shapes 3rd smallest die and centre it on the second panel as pictured on the picture on the right.
2. In order to get it through the die cutting machine, fold the bottom flaps up as shown.
3. Once aperture has been die cut, apply adhesive on the narrow flap and join box ends together.
4. Assemble box, adhering the side flaps at the bottom first, followed by the back flap and the front flap of the box (where the aperture is) last.

Decorating box

1. On a 2″ (5 cm) x A4 length of Basic White – stamp at different heights the wheat sheaf across its length in Crumb Cake ink. Fussy cut, leaving a ½” (0.5 cm) tab at one end and form a crease to wrap round bottom of back of box.
2. Wrap stamped wheat sheaf piece around box and cut off excess. Apply adhesive to bottom edge of box, leaving the top free so you are able to insert the chick and flowers in from the top before adhering it properly.
3. On scrap of Basic White, stamp chick and flowers in Tuxedo Black Memento ink. Colour chick with Stampin’ Blends in Darling Duckling and the beak in Timid Tiger.
4. Colour the flowers in Strawberry Slush, Darling Duckling and Shy Shamrock, then Die cut with corresponding dies from Easter Basket dies.

Finishing touches

1. Arrange your images as shown and add more adhesive as necessary to adhere it securely to box.
2. Stamp greeting and cut free hand a banner and adhere with dimensionals in top let corner of front of box.
3. Lastly add Easter Assortment embellishments.
