Mouthwatering

I can’t believe that it’s Sunday again – it seems to come by at such an alarming rate! Here’s my Sunday post…..

These samples were made for my Summer Mini Event and are from the “Mouthwatering” stamp set featuring the scented embossing powders in three flavours – vanilla, melon and cherry. I used a stampa-majig to stamp the cherries on in Calypso Coral and Lucky Limeade first. Leaving the stampa-majig in the same position, I cleaned the stamp, inked with Versamark and stamped the image again with Versamark, then embossed with Cherry scented embossing powder.   I’m sure there are other methods of applying the versamark onto the stamped image, but this is how I did it because I didn’t want to contaminate the versamark ink pad.

I love watermelon mainly because it evokes so many happy memories of having lived in the tropics for several years while stationed overseas in the Far East. This card features the Adorning Accents textured embossing folders – the set has three different designs, two of which co-ordinates with the Adorning Accents Edgelit dies. I never find inking with markers very satisfactory in terms of colour intensity, so I stamped in Lucky Limeade on scraps of Whisper White first, then stamped again in Rose Red. I cut out the Rose Red part, inked with Versamark and embossed with the Melon scented embossing powder before adhering to the Lucky Limeade pieces. I also used the spritzer tool to spatter a background pattern before attaching the Rose Red seam binding bow with an antique brad.

These ice lollies received the same treatment but this time I used the Vanilla scented embossing powders. I’m not entirely happy with this card. I tried to add another dimension by placing a “frame” over the lollies, but it didn’t seem to “gel”.  I stamped “sweet treats” all over it to try and pull it together and salvage the card rather than ditch it and waste my efforts.  Still not altogether happy with it – but at the time I just didn’t have time to make another.

There is also an ice-cream cone image that accompanies this set.  Again time was a constraint  and I had to restrict myself to making three as there were only three scented powders. Enjoy what’s left of the weekend and thank you for visiting!
