This is the last card in this series of Masculine Cards which has more or less taken up the whole of July’s posts! I had the most fun with this one as it was just a question of masking and stamping in different colours as I went along. It looks much better IRL, no layers and the lovely “happy birthday” font from Party this Way.
So in summary, masculine isn’t as difficult to achieve as everyone thinks. Key is to keep it simple, less is more, use ribbon sparingly or not at all. You can still do elegant without it being effeminate, less layers, linen thread, twill ribbon gives a more rugged look but other types of ribbon, use sparingly. You can still use brads, buttons, eyelets, jumbo eyelets and even the odd pearl or rhinestone. In concluding, I would say that taste is all subjective and individual. My interpretation of masculine is by no means a hard and fast rule and may not be to your taste. This is just my own formula for doing masculine. If you like my style, run with it, if not, just go where your artistic flow takes you.
I do hope you’ve enjoyed this series of cards for “blokes” and have been inspired to make more of your own. Thank you for staying the course – I hope you’re still with me! A bientot – till next time.
