Inspiring Inkin Challenge #3 Colour Combo

The challenge was to use a colour combo in Basic Black, Whisper White and any other colour from the Bold Brights family. I chose Tempting Turquoise for my Bold Bright colour to make a waterfall card with a twist. Instead of stamping different images, I stamped the same image 4 times slightly lower than the previous stamped image. So if you pull the tag quickly, it appears as though the butterfly is alighting on the flower when the tag is fully extended.

The finished card size was 5.25″ x 4″ in Basic Black, the Whisper White was 5″ x 3.75″ for the top as well as the card insert. I cut 4 x 2″ x 2″ Basic Black squares and 4 x 1.75″ x 1.75″ squares Whisper White to stamp images with and 2 Whisper White scallop circles cut in half and sponged with Tempting Turquoise, 2 Tempting Turquoise scallop circles cut in half, all distressed round edges, snipped each scallop to resemble petals to create a two tier flower.

I punched out 4 x 1″ circles and dry embossed dots on them to raise them up and coloured with white gel pen. I applied tombow to white bits on butterfly wings and sprinkled with Dazzling Diamonds to add some bling. The squares were then adhered to a 2″ x 9″ strip of Tempting Turquoise threaded through the black slot measuring 0.75″ x 3.75″ positioned and attached with brads 1″ from bottom of card on Whisper White card stock. Some black gingham ribbon was attached for the pull with a brad centred on 2″ x 9″ Tempting Turquoise strip.

I used the stampa-majig to position the stamp image precisely where I wanted it, just a fraction lower than the previously stamped image on the first square.

The butterfly is stamped closer to the flower than in the previous image such that when the last image is revealed, the butterfly appears to have alighted on the flower.

When the pull tag is fully extended, you can see an embossed white butterfly with the swirly sentiment stamped in Black Stazon ink.

As the card is predominantly black, I had to put a Whisper White insert on the inside back page. After stamping a sentiment, I stamped some more images to inject some colour into the empty space. Hope you like it.
